Bronze-coloured filigree leaves dangle beneath dark, multifaceted rounds of kambaba jasper.
The jasper beads are topped with antiqued-bronze coloured bead-caps and tiny filigree beads.
Kambaba jasper is a semiprecious stone that comes from South Africa, and is actually fossilised stromatolite algae. It goes by a great many names: 'cambaba jasper', 'kabamba jasper', 'crocodile stone', 'kabamby jasper', and 'kumbara jasper', to name a few.
This unusual stone has stunning, elegant patterns of black, dark teal, and dark green, mottled and swirled together. These particular beads have many small facets, which give the beads a subtle gleam as the light catches them, without distracting from the gorgeous patterning and soothing colour scheme. The colours and patterning of this stone remind me of dark jungles and rivers in Africa, so I paired them with leaf- or paisley-like charms that have a stylised, ethnic design.
The 'Darkest Africa' earrings measure 58mm from top to bottom. From the bottom of the ear hooks, the earrings measure 40mm. The leaves are 20mm long, including the baile (the hanging loop at the top), and 10mm wide.
The ear hooks are without nickel, so most sensitive ears should be fine wearing these earrings. The earrings come with little plastic stoppers that can be slid onto the hooks to prevent them from working their way out of your ears. If you would prefer nickel-less leverback ear-wires instead of hooks, simply ask in the 'message to WhiteleafJewellery' field that will appear when you check out of Zibbet.
